Thought I’d send you an email as I think it’s fantastic that you’re trying to make people aware of the dangers that are apparent at Ricks Café & how sorry I am to hear of your long term injuries

I too have recently returned from Ricks Cafe, 6 off us traveled from the Ritz (90 minutes away) to visit this infamous tourist trap…Great for the sunset but the jumps may seem attractive but I too have suffered from the big jump. A colleague & I decided to attempt the jump. The only advice given was enter straight & please give me your US$....well I jumped, hit the water slightly not straight, only marginally out & came to the surface unable to move my neck in great pain as the force of the jump juddered up my spine. I was then diagnosed with whiplash which took me 3 weeks to get over, whilst my colleague felt fine at the time, then 2 days later had problems straightening his back & he entered as instructed, straight….Bottom line is that you’ll get hurt no matter how fit you are, I’m lucky that I’ve made a recovery, not 100% though.

There are no lifeguards on duty, nothing stopping young children jumping & there is little concern for the injured… the only concern is how much are you going to spend & to be honest the service & food is disgraceful, we actually walked out due to lack of service. (Waiting over an hr & half for your appetizer is not acceptable, even if the music is blaring out so loud you can’t hear yourself think, let alone understand what the person next to you is saying). The presentation of the menu is a screwed up piece of paper with some standard ready meals as options….not exactly professional.

My advice is AVOID THIS PLACE, there are plenty of other places to view the sunset, many better places to eat, drink & experience the local music & definitely many more places to spend your money & experience the Caribbean Sea.

The jumping areas should be closed off with a Government health warning, safety is not their concern, it’s your US$’s…all of the above is merely my opinion

Good luck in campaigning against this place & hope your health improves.
Ian
